This qualification provides the essential knowledge and understanding needed to obtain a personal licence and meet the legal requirements for selling or authorising the sale of alcohol. It covers key topics including licensing objectives, legal responsibilities, safeguarding children on licensed premises, the effects of alcohol on customers, and the powers of licensing authorities and the police. It equips you with the confidence and knowledge required to work responsibly in licensed premises and progress into roles such as a designated premises supervisor.

Entry Requirements

Course participants must be at least 18 years of age.

Learners must possess a sufficient level of English language ability, including speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills.

Delivery and Assessment

The course is delivered through online learning.

Upon completion of the course candidates will be required to attend one of our Highfield approved training centres for an invigilated e-assessments, carried out through a one hour examination with 40-multiple choice questions.

This qualification is a legal requirement for anyone wishing to apply for a personal licence and sell or authorise the sale of alcohol on licensed premises.

The course covers the key requirements of the Licensing Act 2003, including the responsibilities of personal licence holders and the importance of complying with licensing law.

You will learn about the four licensing objectives: the prevention of crime and disorder, public safety, the prevention of public nuisance, and the protection of children from harm. These objectives form the foundation of alcohol licensing in England and Wales.

You must achieve a minimum score of 70% in the end-of-course assessment to pass.
