For existing SIA licence holders, civil enforcement officers, and community safety personnel who may be required to use mechanical restraints in the course of their duties.

Entry Requirements

Course participants must be at least 18 years of age.

Learners should possess current security industry relevant Physical Intervention (PI) or Control and Restraint (C&R). Relevant experience gained through service in the Armed Forces, Police Service, Prison Service, or similar uniformed professions will also be considered suitable and may meet this requirement.

Learners must possess a sufficient level of English language ability, including speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills.

Participants must also meet the health and physical fitness requirements necessary to safely complete the practical elements of the course.

While a First Aid qualification is not a mandatory requirement for this licence, it is considered best practice to hold a valid and current First Aid certificate.

Delivery and Assessment

The course is delivered over one-day.

Training takes place at one of our Highfield approved training centres in East Anglia. The centre’s are equipped with modern classroom facilities and provide suitable space for demonstrating realistic scenarios you may encounter when applying mechanical restraints.

Alternatively, we can carry out the course at your business premises providing there is adequate space.

Assessments are carried out through a internally assessed open response workbook and practical scenario based assessments.

Learners must achieve 100% to pass this qualification.
